Fitzhugh Dewey Davis

Fitzhugh Dewey Davis or “Dewey” was born Mar4,1898 in Bethera, South Carolina and died Aug 20,1986 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married to Bertha Carene Player, these two were parents to eight children.  Dewey asked his father if he could serve in WWI with his brother, but was told he must work on the docks to help the cause.  But Dewey helped at home with Buist and Jim.  When the opportunity came to go to Salt Lake City to live with the Saints, Dewey took his wife and family and moved by his brothers.  Together they formed the “Utah Association of Southerners.”  He worked at the Kennecott Copper Mines until he was severely burned falling into a vat of smelted ore.  When he recovered, he worked with the volunteer fired department near his home in Salt Lake City.
