William Buist Davis

William Buist Davis was born July 28, 1888 and died June 24, 1973.  He lived his entire life in South Carolina.  He married Fannye Lucille Dryden on Jan 20, 1946.  She had been a young school teacher and he, an old bachelor.  They had four children, two are twins.  William Buist was called Buist and worked driving the streetcar in Charleston, studied law, and ran the Bethera store and Post Office until he died.  Lucille then took over and their daughter, Marilyn after that.  They were a good, close family, who built and carried the Church in Bethera.  Their history is rich with stories fun and sad, but all worth hearing.

  1. First, hello to all the family out west. Its great to see this site up and running. Marilyn and I (she is one of the twins) have gotten to know and love Brenda and Diane on their visits to the south on their genealogy expeditions. Its always fun to hear them call and let us know that they are in the area and that they are lost again.

It’s been many, many years since we were in Utah. I’m grateful that I (Joe) had the opportunity to meet Jim, Dewy and Duncan when they were still alive. Our oldest daughter, Melissa (I call her Amber) took her first steps in Jim’s front yard. It was so hot and Jim had no air conditioning, so Marilyn and I would spend most of the time in a local ice cream shop while the “old Folks” talked. Now we are the “Old Folks”.

We hope that through this site we will get to know everyone over time. Those we miss, we’ll catch one the other side. We anticipate and look forward to all comments and communication from those tied to the Davis family.

    Take care,
    Joe and Marilyn
